Candlelight is a metaphor for the human soul and is reminiscent of simpler times before the electric light was available.
We self-inflict power outage to illuminate our homes, our environments with candlelight, which usher in peace, and is creating relaxed atmosphere, a peaceful oases.
Lowering the lighting in this manner helps us to make illumination to our world, which so often seems to be dark and negative, something which would have a decidedly un-peaceful effect.
The candles represent the light we introduce into the world through taking time to open our hearts, to observe, to reach out to true us. Candlelight represents the “additional soul” with which we are endowed, so that we should not stumble in the darkness.
In many different traditions lighting candles is a sacred action. It expresses more than words can express. It has to do with gratefulness!
